Ohira Mine (Ohira Suita, Uchigumori, and Awasedo)

They are not concreate blocks in the picture. They are Ohira whetstones. Ohira mine is located on very deep mountain of Atago mountain. The mine company is located on also very deep in the mountain small village where does not have train station and no bus stop (I guess). Ohira mine has produced very famous Uchigumori whetstone for Japanese sword sharpening for hundreds years. It also produces high quality large size Awasedo and Suita. Ohira Suita is great for fast sharpening as fine grit and it shows Kasumi pattern and Damascus pattern vividly. It is a beautiful place, but you should not even think about going there, if you are not familiar with the place. I will give you guarantee what you will be lost.
